Belarus said there had been an attempt to drag it into the war after an attack near Bryansk
A Belarusian citizen was seriously wounded in a Ukrainian drone attack on a truck in the Bryansk region and required limb amputations. After that, the republic’s Foreign Ministry saw the attack as an attempt to involve the country in the war in Ukraine, the ministry’s press service reports.
Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ruslan Varankov said that “at present, the injured woman is in intensive care in extremely serious but stabilized condition; she is connected to a ventilator.”
The attacked truck had Belarusian registration, Varankov clarified. He recalled that the Belarusian Foreign Ministry had previously warned of increased danger and recommended that citizens refrain from traveling to the area. According to him, what happened confirms that the recommendation remains relevant. According to him, the ministry views the attack as an attempt to escalate the situation in the region.
