An Alabuga student died by suicide after working and studying in the special economic zone
This was reported by Echo, citing a letter and death certificate for 16-year-old T. from Novokuznetsk.
The parents reported possible incitement to suicide, according to their appeal to one of the authorities, the outlet notes.
In the document, they state that T., who studied there for four months, was in Alabuga “under a regime of harsh military discipline and a shortage of time for sleep and food, in constant emotional and physical strain.”
After returning, he “became withdrawn, stopped smiling and feeling joy, complained of constant headaches, lost his appetite, and slept poorly,” the parents claim.
They also mention the possible incitement of the young man to suicide “in connection with his involvement with Alabuga, which is confirmed by his uncovered correspondence with unknown persons.” They cite the opinion of a psychiatrist: according to her, in the last months of his life the teenager “was in a deep depression caused by prolonged stress at Alabuga against the background of the emotional instability of a child’s psyche.”
An Echo source with information about what happened said that T. at Alabuga was subjected both to coercion by the administration, which “put a lot of pressure on him, demanded that he meet the plan, forced him to work,” and to bullying in the group, where “there was hazing, the older ones beat the younger ones.”
🔵In spring 2026, the Alabuga SEZ, where Alabuga Polytech college is located, launched an advertisement promising students 150,000 rubles in their second year for assembling drones, and 350,000 rubles in their third year.
