Security forces detained the former co-owner of Lenta and Ulmart in a fraud case

Moscow’s Tagansky District Court placed businessman Dmitry Kostygin under house arrest, RBC reports, citing two sources.

He is reportedly charged with fraud on an especially large scale.

🔴In 2017, Kostygin became a defendant in a fraud case: he, and later Ulmart co-owner August Meyer, were charged with stealing funds received as loans for business development.

In 2024, the court reclassified the charge as “causing property damage through deception or abuse of trust” and sentenced Kostygin to four years in prison and Meyer to three years.

At the time, both were released from serving the imposed sentence because the statute of limitations had expired.
