While Finland’s prime minister proposes a visa ban for Russians, the EU has bought a record volume of Russian LNG worth almost 8 billion euros

From January to September 2026, European Union countries imported 12.18 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia’s Yamal LNG project. That is 9.5% more than during the same period in 2025. The supplies were valued at 7.88 billion euros, Euronews reports, citing an analysis by the German organization Urgewald.

It is noted that the sum was calculated by multiplying supply volumes by exchange prices. The estimate does not take discounts, transportation costs or taxes into account and does not reflect the Russian budget’s net revenues.

Visa Ban Meets Record Gas Purchases

The EU bought record Russian LNG from January through September.
