Ukrainian drones attacked a Yandex data center in Vladimir on the night of October 11 — the company said the data center’s infrastructure was damaged, its operation had been completely stopped, and there were no casualties. This is the third Yandex data center attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Yandex Cloud platform is operating in emergency mode — two of its zones are unavailable. “We consider the remaining resource configuration unstable,” the company said, recommending that clients restore resources on external sites.
After the attack, Yandex Go, Yandex Pay, Yandex Eats, Yandex Pro, Alice, Kinopoisk and other services stopped working in various regions of Russia, including Siberia.
As Ostorozhno, Novosti and Astra write, taxis cannot be ordered in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Perm, Krasnoyarsk, Ulan-Ude, Vladivostok and other cities, as well as in Serbia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia. Drivers cannot log into their accounts or their navigation is broken, while passengers see in the app that there are no cars on the line.
Some Yandex Pay users cannot access their money. According to Ostorozhno, Novosti, Yandex’s internal apps are also down — for couriers, drivers and support staff.
The state veterinary system VetIS, which is used to issue electronic certificates for products of animal origin, was switched to emergency mode “in connection with an emergency power outage in Vladimir Region.” Outages are also being recorded at CIAN, Vkusno — i Tochka, FlowWow, Dodo and GGsel.
Vladimir Region Governor Alexander Avdeev said that two substations supplying electricity to five thousand residents were knocked out because of the attack, and that people from nearby houses were being evacuated. An hour later, he said power supply had been restored by 80%, and heating and water supply had been fully restored.
