Yandex Pay customers complained to the Central Bank that they cannot withdraw funds from the bank’s cards

Yandex Pay users have begun sending appeals to the Central Bank with complaints that they are unable to withdraw funds and find out when the problem will be resolved after drone strikes on Yandex data centers. Verstka found the corresponding messages in themed chats.

One user sent appeals to the prosecutor’s office, the Investigative Committee, and the Bank of Russia. In a complaint about the “unlawful restriction of the disposal of funds,” he states that on October 11 the bank blocked the ability to manage his own money, in particular to transfer it elsewhere and withdraw it from “Saves.”

“Thus, I am effectively deprived of the ability to freely dispose of the funds that belong to me, including transferring them to other banks and using my savings at my own discretion,” he writes.

The man asks for the circumstances to be checked, for the legality of the blocking of transfers and restrictions on withdrawing money to be assessed, for compliance with requirements on “informing clients about the reasons, legal grounds, duration of the restrictions, and the procedure for lifting them” to be evaluated, and for response measures to be taken if violations are found.

In a conversation with Verstka, another female user said that she had also contacted the Central Bank and plans to send a pre-trial claim. According to the woman, she was blocked in the Yandex Pay chat after saying that the company needed to give at least approximate timelines for resolving the problem and ease people’s worries about a possible bankruptcy.

“I wrote about the same problem as everyone else. We cannot withdraw funds from saves, deposits, or savings accounts. We do not know the timelines and have no guarantees or official answers, technical support is not working,” she said.

Some of the bank’s customers are writing complaints on the Central Bank’s social media pages. One user told Verstka that she contacted the Bank of Russia through messages to find out whether the problem would be regulated, since she, “like everyone else, needs money.”

The Central Bank replied that it “understands the concern and the desire to understand the situation” and advised users to follow the bank’s official statements and write to its support service.

In the comments, users are also asking the regulator to influence Yandex Pay’s operations. They note that they have nothing to pay their loans with and have to take out new loans from other banks. Some write that they have only their last few thousand rubles left and nothing to feed their families with.

🟦Against the backdrop of strikes on Yandex data centers, Yandex Pay bank suffered a large-scale outage: users complain that they cannot transfer or withdraw money, pay for subscriptions, or check their balance. The company said the service is temporarily unavailable and that clients’ money was not affected.
