Russia and Ukraine exchanged long-range strikes overnight. The key points:

▪️ A Sber data center in the city of Balakovo, Saratov Region, was attacked, the company’s first deputy chairman of the executive board said. According to him, all the bank’s systems and services are operating normally. He did not disclose the extent of the damage;

▪️ The regional governor reported that several residential buildings had been damaged and a female civilian had been killed;

▪️ The Russian Defense Ministry reported strikes on the ATM Ukrsibbank data center, Darnytska CHP-4 and Kyiv CHP-5 in Kyiv; Kyiv CHP-6, Trypilska Thermal Power Plant and the Kyivska electrical substation in the Kyiv Region; as well as Kharkiv CHP-5 and Zmiivska Thermal Power Plant in Kharkiv and the surrounding region;

▪️ Zelensky partially confirmed this information, adding that at least 600,000 people had been left without electricity;

▪️ Kyiv’s mayor reported that three people had been killed and 21 injured in the attack;

▪️ Zelensky’s adviser on defense technology, Serhii Beskrestnov, said SpaceX had restricted Starlink operations in Ukraine without warning. According to him, the restrictions affect the military StarShield package: a movement speed limit of 100 miles per hour, or about 161 km/h, has been imposed. “Our defense forces received no advance warning of this restriction, and this resulted in a number of operations being disrupted. It is obvious that this step cannot be accidental and is connected to the current political situation,” he wrote.

Damage Mounts While Official Reports Stay Polished

The overnight strikes left people dead, injured, and hundreds of thousands without power.

The reports worked better than civilian protection.
