Ukraine liberated 277 km² (16 settlements) in northern Donetsk Oblast as part of the Vivaldi offensive operation. The Russian army lost more than 8,000 soldiers. Hundreds more were taken prisoner.
The Third Army Corps announced the successful completion of the fourth stage of the operation in the Lyman sector. The Ukrainian forces’ rapid advance pushed the occupiers back 15–17 km, almost to the Zherebets River, calling into question the continued existence of their bridgehead on its western bank—as well as the Russian command’s plans to encircle the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk urban area and cut the Kharkiv–Sloviansk highway.
Remember how it all began? With Putin publicly lying about the capture of Sviatohirsk. It ended with a “negative offensive” that Moscow is still keeping quiet about, even though some pro-war Z-bloggers have acknowledged the Ukrainian military’s successes.
The Russian command is accustomed to living in a “parallel reality” and imposing it on its population. Everything looks great in the reports placed on the bunker dictator’s desk and in propaganda’s triumphant broadcasts. But when all of this collides with brutal reality, a heavy price must be paid in the lives of men sent to the slaughter. But who cares about them besides their families? Write off a thousand or two—the “sheeple will swallow” whatever they are shown on TV anyway.
