“Maybe They Thought It Wasn’t Very Manly to Lock Up a Man’s Wife.” An Interview with Elena Morgunova. Security Forces Detained Her Twice “Because She Is Pavel Krisevich’s Wife,” Then Gave Her Three Days to Leave Russia
On October 10, performance artist Pavel Krisevich reported that his wife, Elena Morgunova, had managed to leave Russia after a series of revolving-door arrests. Morgunova was detained in Russia’s Ryazan region on August 28 after briefly returning to the country to visit relatives. Krisevich and Morgunova had lived in France since late 2025—they left on humanitarian visas after the artist was placed under administrative arrest twice. In an interview with Meduza, Morgunova spoke about her detention, life in a Paris squat, and her relationship with former Pussy Riot member Rita Flores, who recently admitted that she had cooperated with the FSB.
