Prosecutor General’s Office Withdraws Lawsuit Seeking Seizure of FIDE President Timur Turlov’s Assets
The Tverskoy District Court in Moscow, which was hearing the case, received a motion from Deputy Prosecutor General Igor Tkachev to withdraw the lawsuit. This was reported by RBC.
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office filed a lawsuit against Kazakh businessman Turlov and Freedom Finance, the holding company he founded, in early October. The agency sought to have the businessman’s property transferred to the state. Kommersant’s sources linked the lawsuit to Turlov’s donations to humanitarian projects in Ukraine.
The lawsuit reached the court shortly after Turlov was elected president of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). He succeeded former Russian deputy prime minister Arkady Dvorkovich, who was placed under EU sanctions.
