The village in the Zaporizhzhia region has become practically legendary due to the Russian army’s inability to capture it despite five years of relentless assaults. Artem Yuryevich Kalinichenko from the “meat-grinder Akhmat” (the “Russian” wing that does all the dirty work instead of Kadyrov’s men) knows better than most why this keeps happening. The guy was captured twice(!) near Mala Tokmachka! Both times, he was sent into a mindless assault, and both times, he managed to survive and surrender to the Ukrainians.

As everyone knows, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, the village was “liberated” long ago—and more than once. So the first time, Kalinichenko’s group was sent there in vehicles(!). They were told, “Everything is under control; you won’t encounter any resistance.”

“We had so little idea where we were going that we installed an amplifier and speakers in the car… I swear, we had music playing as we drove!” he says.

Naturally, the hapless assault troops were defeated before they even reached the settlement. Wounded, Artem managed to find shelter, lie low for several days, find Ukrainian troops, and surrender. In captivity, he was nursed back to health and exchanged some time later. After he returned to Russia, Artem was promised that he would not be sent back to the front. For several months, he even handed over part of his salary to remain in the rear, but that did not help either. On his second “tour,” the guy once again ended up in the Zaporizhzhia region—in exactly the same place!

Knowing how it would end, he immediately decided that he would surrender. He refused to ride in a vehicle (yes, the Russian army is still trying to drive into Mala Tokmachka) and went into the assault on foot. At his very first encounter with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kalinichenko laid down his weapon, and he now thanks God and the Ukrainians that everything turned out exactly this way.
