Russia’s Digital Development Ministry Proposed Stepping Up the Fight Against VPN Services Using AI
Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development proposed blocking VPN services by using artificial intelligence to identify their telltale features, Kommersant reported, citing a source. The authorities believe this could make the blocks 95% effective.
The same measure is included in the draft national plan for AI adoption through 2030. At least 70% of VPN services subject to blocking are expected to be analyzed by AI. The government already uses intelligent traffic-analysis algorithms, but they are not full-fledged neural networks, the newspaper writes.
💜Earlier, Verstka explained how the Russian authorities plan to tighten their control over the internet. One of the key tools will be the Max messenger, whose functionality will be expanded to counter VPN services.
