Zelensky said that Starlink is still operating with restrictions in Ukraine

Military-grade Starlink terminals — Starshield — continue to operate with restrictions in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky told reporters.

Several days ago, Ukrainian troops discovered that when a drone fitted with a Starlink terminal exceeds a speed of 160 kilometers per hour, the connection drops and operators lose the drone.

However, Zelensky told reporters that the same terminals operate without restrictions in the European Union. “We sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink into EU countries, and they traveled at 180 kilometers per hour, and Starlink works,” he said.

The conclusion is that the restrictions apply within Ukraine, meaning this is a planned operation.

The Ukrainian president stressed that because of the restrictions, the military is currently unable, among other things, to use drones to deliver food and water to positions that ground vehicles cannot reach, or to shoot down Russian Shahed-type jet-powered drones.
