Russia Has Struck Ukrainian Energy Facilities 76 Times Since Trump Announced an Energy Ceasefire, Zelensky Says
Since Trump announced an energy ceasefire, Russia has struck Ukrainian energy facilities 76 times — Zelensky
“Since the moment the U.S. president announced an energy ceasefire, Russia has carried out 76 targeted strikes against Ukraine’s energy and oil and gas sectors. Last night alone, substations in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions were struck,” the Ukrainian president wrote on Telegram.
“America must see that Russia is taking no reciprocal steps in response to sanctions being lifted or agreements being reached. The war continues precisely because of this Russian position, not because Ukraine is rightfully defending itself,” Zelensky added.
Trump said that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy ceasefire on October 11. Zelensky told journalists that this came as news to him. Nevertheless, he added, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received the relevant orders. On October 15, Zelensky warned that Ukraine would resume strikes on Russian oil refineries because Russia had not observed the ceasefire, while Ukraine — despite being prepared to comply with it — had lost access to the American Starlink satellite internet service.
