European Parliament vice-president begins hunger strike to “draw international attention” to the situation in Oleshky
The European Parliament's vice-president has begun a hunger strike to “draw international attention” to the situation in Oleshky
Picierno called on humanitarian organizations and governments to pay attention to her action.
“We must demand an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, the delivery of food and medicines, and the possibility of safely evacuating civilians who want to leave the city,” she said.
Oleshky is a city in Kherson Oblast under the control of the Russian military. For months, its residents have been left without electricity, food, and proper medical care amid unceasing crossfire. It is virtually impossible to leave the city, as most routes out of it are mined.
