Zhanna Nemtsova is being tried in absentia in Moscow over her father's foundation
Nemtsov's daughter is accused of leading the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom, which has been designated “undesirable” in Russia, Mediazona reports.
As evidence, investigators used a recording of Nemtsova's speech in Budva, where she spoke about her role in the foundation. Nemtsova's lawyer said that his client does not admit guilt.
🔵On September 17, it became known that Zhanna Nemtsova had been placed on an international wanted list in a case concerning the organization of an “undesirable” organization's activities.
🔵The foundation for which Nemtsova is being tried supports independent journalism and awards scholarships to journalists, activists, and human rights defenders. In April 2024, the Justice Ministry added it to the register of “undesirable” organizations.
🔵On October 2, the Justice Ministry added Zhanna Nemtsova to the list of “foreign agents” because she speaks out “against the special military operation” and, in the ministry's view, disseminates “unreliable information about decisions made by Russian Federation public authorities and the policies they pursue.”
