The Trump administration is allowing the sale of “shadow fleet” tankers

The Donald Trump administration is allowing the sale of sanctioned oil tankers so that these vessels can begin legally transporting oil, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said.

We are going to move some vessels from what I call the “bad guys’ fleet” into the “good guys’ fleet.” They will no longer transport sanctioned oil,

he said (quoted by Bloomberg).

U.S. authorities are working with investors who buy idle sanctioned tankers, repair them, and use them to transport oil that is not subject to sanctions, Wright said at an event held by financial company Citadel Securities in New York.

🔴Earlier, media reported that the Trump administration is considering easing sanctions on “shadow fleet” vessels that transport oil and petroleum products from Russia, Iran, and Venezuela.
