State-loyal media outlets have begun writing about “Putin strikes” on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The authors of the Presidential Administration’s guidelines probably borrowed the term from Stalin

At the direction of the presidential administration (PA), state-run and Kremlin-dependent Russian media outlets have begun writing about “Putin strikes” on Ukraine. Two employees of such media told Meduza about this.

“Our ballistic missiles performed flawlessly. The Ukrainian regime has lost crucial production and storage sites where cruise missiles and UAVs, as well as components for them, were assembled and stored. ‘Putin strikes’ are far more extensive and effective than the enemy’s attacks. We are winding down the militants’ missile programs — this helps ensure the security of Russia’s regions,” says the text of the guidelines.

Headlines, military comments, and texts containing the phrase “Putin strikes” did indeed appear in major Russian media outlets this week.
