Hieromonk Ioann Kurmoyarov, Previously Convicted of Military ‘Fakes,’ Put on Wanted List

Information about this appeared in the Interior Ministry database, Mediazona noted. It is unknown exactly what the former Russian Orthodox Church priest is accused of.

🔵Ioann Kurmoyarov was detained in 2022 in a case involving military “fakes.” In 2023, he was sentenced to three years in a general-regime penal colony, and on August 1, 2024, he was released, having fully served his sentence due to time spent in pretrial detention, and left Russia.

🔵The reason for opening the first criminal case against the priest was his video blog and a video on his YouTube channel titled “Who Will Be in Hell and Who Will Be in Heaven?” In it, the priest said, he examined Kremlin propaganda from the perspective of Christian doctrine.

Peacemakers will be in heaven, you understand? And the one who unleashed the aggression will not be in heaven, no matter how hard he insists,

said the priest, analyzing Vladimir Putin's phrase, “We will go to heaven as martyrs, while they will simply die.”
