Zelensky: “It is unacceptable that Trump holds me responsible for Russian aggression”

Volodymyr Zelensky said he has a good relationship with Donald Trump, but called it “wrong and unacceptable” that the U.S. president blames him for Russian aggression and killings committed by the Russian army.

Zelensky said this on The Diary Of A CEO podcast. “He is shifting the context, and that is unfair,” the Ukrainian president stressed.

In Zelensky’s view, this is an attempt to divert attention from Iran:

All the volumes are completely blocked there. Nothing is working there at all. Energy, the Strait of Hormuz is blocked. That is the root of the problem. But everything is being shifted onto us, and I, as the leader of our country, have been made a target.

Trump had a special relationship with Putin, and it may still persist, the Ukrainian president said. Zelensky did not rule out that “Trump’s friendly relations with Putin could have prevented the full-scale invasion.”

Putin seeks to seize eastern Ukraine, and if Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region are handed over to Russia, there is a high risk that the Russian army will not stop there, Zelensky believes.

“If we withdraw, where are the security guarantees? Not to mention that it is unfair,” he stressed.

The Blame Landed in the Wrong Place

Zelensky rejected Trump blaming him for Russian aggression and killings.

Context was guiltier than the army again.
