Samara farmer remanded in custody over donations to Artpodgotovka

As OVD-Info learned, Yaroslav Shelepanov, a farmer from the Samara Region, is accused of financing terrorism over two transfers via DonationAlerts totalling 736 rubles and 85 kopecks.

According to investigators, the money was connected to a community that Vyacheslav Maltsev created from members of Artpodgotovka (which the authorities consider terrorist).

On 19 August, officers searched Shelepanov's home. They seized his phones, laptop and notebook. A criminal case was opened two days later, and on 22 August he was charged and remanded in pre-trial detention.

While Shelepanov remains in custody, his relatives have had to sell about 50 sheep from his farm. The court ordered that he remain in pre-trial detention until 20 December.

What is Artpodgotovka?

Artpodgotovka emerged around the YouTube channel of politician Vyacheslav Maltsev. He urged supporters to prepare for a “revolution” that he set for 5 November 2017. Shortly before that date, the movement was designated extremist.

Later, people began to be persecuted, including for donations to Artpodgotovka. According to the Sova Center, at least 32 people were convicted in such cases from January through September 2026.
