A cargo ship sank off Romania after being hit by a Russian drone. One person was killed and three are missing

A cargo ship, the Khoriv, sailing under the flag of the Comoros, sank in the Black Sea off Romania’s coast after a drone attack, Reuters reports. There were 13 sailors from Ukraine and Azerbaijan on board. One crew member was killed, nine were rescued, and three others are missing.

“This is part of the escalation process by Russia in its war against Ukraine,” Romanian President Nicușor Dan said. He told journalists that the vessel sank as a result of a drone strike.

Over the past two weeks, at least seven cargo ships have been attacked off the coasts of Romania and Bulgaria, Reuters notes. Around 30 sailors have been killed or are missing.
