⚡️⚡️⚡️The ninth prisoner-of-war exchange has just been successfully completed in 2026. This is the third and final stage of the exchange that began on 19.08.2026.

270 defenders of Ukraine returned home, while 270 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces were sent to the barracks of military unit 61899 in the Mosrentgen military town for further interrogations and checks.

For the past three years, Russian propaganda has been telling relatives that the Russian Ministry of Defense does not include prisoners of war from “L/DPR” units on exchange lists because Ukraine allegedly refuses to return them.

Today’s exchange has once again shown how they lie.

This is an important reminder for relatives of Russian prisoners of war. When you are told for years that your loved one is not being returned because “Ukraine won’t give him back,” remember today’s exchange. People whom Russia supposedly could not retrieve because of Ukraine’s position were exchanged as soon as the Russian side included them on the lists.

Ukraine has repeatedly stated publicly that there are no obstacles to their return. Moreover, prisoners of war from “L/DPR” units themselves recorded numerous appeals to the Russian authorities demanding that they be exchanged. The only thing missing was the willingness of the Russian side. Today’s exchange became further confirmation of this fact.

Why did Moscow remember these people precisely now?

For Russia, the situation in the occupied territories continues to deteriorate. There is no water, no electricity, disruptions to fuel supplies and communications, rising prices, industrial decline, and closing mines — all of this is gradually angering the local population.

Russia has brought only war and devastation to Donbas — everyone sees and understands this. Apparently, in order to sweeten the situation in the media, the Kremlin finally remembered these prisoners of war.

Turns out Ukraine was never the missing part.
