Guards at Roskomnadzor in Moscow will be issued firearms
Guards at Roskomnadzor’s main office on Kitaygorodsky Proyezd in Moscow will begin performing their duties with firearms. This is stated in a building-security procurement tender discovered by Verstka.
According to the technical specifications, security staff will be issued 9 mm Makarov pistols. In addition, they will have special equipment at their disposal: a rubber baton, handcuffs, and a metal detector.
The documents show that Roskomnadzor’s office will be guarded around the clock by two people with pistols. On weekdays, they will be joined for eight hours a day by another guard equipped with special equipment.
This is the first time firearms have been issued to guards at an RKN building. In previous years, they took up their posts with special equipment, according to procurement tenders on the public procurement portal.
According to the documents, the guards will be required to “monitor the situation near the post and in the adjacent area, paying attention to suspicious persons and the possibility of explosives being planted.”
In the event of a threat or an actual attack on the office, they must “take the necessary actions to repel the attack by all available means and detain the attackers.”
The guards will receive their pistols after a contractor is selected. The tender results are expected to be announced on November 2. The contract will last six months. During that time, Roskomnadzor is prepared to spend up to 17.2 million rubles on armed staff. Another 3.5 million rubles may be spent on the work of a guard with special equipment.
In total, 108.6 million rubles from the budget have been allocated to guard 26 RKN offices in 28 localities. Firearms will be carried only by guards at the main building in Moscow.
🩵In January this year, Roskomnadzor employee Alexey Belyaev, who was responsible for blocking and throttling traffic, was killed at the checkpoint of the RKN office on Kitaygorodsky Proyezd in Moscow, the VChK-OGPU channel reported. According to the channel, Belyaev was attacked with a knife by a 16-year-old teenager.
