Ukraine wants to hold talks with the U.S. and Russia a week earlier, Ukrainska Pravda reports
According to information from the outlet’s source close to the negotiating team, the Ukrainian side is trying to move the planned talks between Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia in Abu Dhabi forward by a week, as well as involve a representative of the European Union in the talks.
The day before, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said that Moscow was ready to resume trilateral talks “after November 4.” Ukrainska Pravda writes that the first meeting is planned after the U.S. midterm elections for Congress (scheduled for November 3), approximately from November 10.
The outlet’s source claims that Kyiv and Washington are now trying to persuade the Russian side to agree to a meeting a week earlier. He explained that “every week will matter in December”: “When you have no electricity, water, or heating, every day matters.”
According to the UP source, Moscow opposes Europeans participating in the first meeting.
“But our people will bring them in, and they will hold briefings there in Abu Dhabi in real time. The Europeans’ problem is that they do not have a designated representative, which means all these envoys can only receive the signal. They have no mandate to decide anything at all,” the source added.
