The savings of deputies in the new State Duma exceeded the annual budgets of six Russian regions
Deputies in the new State Duma hold 44.4 billion rubles in bank accounts, Vedomosti calculated after reviewing lawmakers’ declarations. This exceeds the annual budgets of six regions with a combined population of 1.7 million people, including the Altai Republic, Ingushetia, and Kalmykia.
At the same time, 10 State Duma deputies account for 65% of the entire convocation’s income. The largest sum—17.5 billion rubles—is in the accounts of Leonid Simanovsky, former chairman of Novatek’s board of directors. He is followed by former Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev (5.1 billion) and former Rosneft top manager Gennady Bukayev (4.5 billion).
The deputies’ combined income for the year totaled 24.9 billion rubles. This exceeds the annual budgets of Vologda, Ryazan, Astrakhan, Kursk, and Cherepovets. Leonid Simanovsky was also the income leader, having earned 5.6 billion rubles.
