Russian government bodies have spent more than 17 billion rubles on drone defenses

Members of the new wartime elite are the main beneficiaries, an investigation by Novaya Gazeta Europe found.

Government procurement data shows that Russian authorities are primarily seeking to protect essential infrastructure and civilian airports from drones, the outlet notes.

The state-owned company Rosseti was the largest purchaser of anti-drone systems, while Rostec was one of the largest suppliers.

Another major supplier is Kaspersky Lab, known for its antivirus software, which developed the Kaspersky Antidrone system. Russian government bodies have spent at least 100 million rubles on Kaspersky’s product. The system is used at Sheremetyevo Airport, among other places.
