The Kremlin wants recognition of seized territories, not a ceasefire — political scientist on the Abu Dhabi talks
In political scientist Alexander Morozov’s view, the issue of territory is the most difficult and most burdensome point in the negotiations. As the expert noted, there is currently no clear concept for resolving it.
Putin is seeking recognition from Europe and the global community that the territories are now Russian, and of course, it is completely impossible at present to imagine a negotiating framework in which that would happen,
Morozov said on the air on TV Rain.
Zelensky is talking about a possible discussion of territories only to avoid obstructing the resumption of negotiating tracks at this stage, the political scientist believes. Morozov is convinced that Ukraine, like the European countries, has an interest in the trilateral consultations in Abu Dhabi.
