Dead African mercenary exposed his recruiters and instructors.

Pako Namogang, a 25-year-old citizen of Botswana, made a conscious decision to go to war against Ukraine. He was recruited through a WhatsApp chat called "Work in Russia". The Russian recruiter stated outright that he was looking for people to serve in the Russian army, and Pako readily responded.

Judging by correspondence found on his phone, the Russian trade mission in South Africa helped him with paperwork and transportation, in violation of the country's laws. The “brokers” directly responsible for organizing the recruitment of our hero and other Africans were Elizaveta Sergeyevna Savinovskikh and Mikhail Sergeyevich Petrushenko.

In July 2026, Namogang flew from Johannesburg airport to Moscow, where he successfully signed a contract at the already legendary Unified Recruitment Center for contract military service on Yablochkova Street. The paperwork was handled by the center's acting head, Senior Lieutenant A. V. Levykin.

The African mercenary and the others were then housed at the Russian “Avangard” center for the military-patriotic education of young people. The center's instructors trained them—a direct violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits the use of civilian infrastructure as a military base.

Around August, Pako was sent on a combat mission to Ukraine, where he was killed fairly quickly during fighting near Novoliubivka in the Luhansk region. His documents and phone later came into the possession of Ukrainian intelligence.

As is known, citizens of Botswana featured in the case exposing a Russian recruitment network in South Africa. Duduzile Zuma, the daughter of a former South African president, was implicated in setting it up. She tricked 17 people, including Botswanans, into going to Russia. As we can see, the South African authorities have yet to completely shut down the Russian “merchants of death.”

☝️We remind you that the best outcome for any foreigner who has ended up in the Russian occupation army, whether by deception or voluntarily, is to become a Ukrainian prisoner of war. Our project accepts applications from everyone, regardless of citizenship, skin color or religion.

A Trade Mission Helps Clear the Way to War

Correspondence suggests Russia's trade mission helped a mercenary with paperwork and travel.

Trade apparently includes getting recruits to war.
